BeSecure

Welcome

Today, an important aspect of computing is keeping your system as secure as possible. People out there want to destroy people's fun and work by writing Trojan Horses, Viruses and Worms which enter your PC and destruct and/or spread to others. These are skillful and knowledgeable people; each day the viruses get better and the techniques used to exploit your PC improve.

Most people now buy their home PC with the intent of using it on the internet. They will probably be connected to the internet within a few hours of opening their PC's packaging, but do they (you?) understand the security issues?

Everything a user needs to be secure is out there, and many sites now including Microsoft list their 1-2-3 security action plan. But what not all sites do is take you through the whole business of setting up each tool, and ensuring your protection.

If you just bought a PC, your first experience doesn't want to be spending an hour or two protecting your system, but you want to explore what is out there, but spending that 1 hour now, could save you time, money, effort and loss later on.

File Extensions

File Extensions

Windows associates the actions on how to treat files purely based on file extension. Do you know what file extension does what, is it safe to open? Did you know file extensions may be hidden and people fake the extension by stacking them?
